Kennedy Fai and the Apple Revolution in Cameroon

Apple cultivation in the tropics has for a long time, been a myth, given the climatic conditions that prevail in the tropical region of the globe.

However, it has been realised that some species of apple can actually thrive in some parts of the tropical region, producing high yields.

Young Cameroonian farmer, Kennedy Fai stands as the very first person to unravel the myth on apple cultivation in Cameroon.

Kennedy FAI is a young Cameroonian from the North West Region who has broken the myth that apples can not be grown in this part of the globe.

His apple farm in Kumbo is already yielding much fruit and he hopes to supply apples to the local market and export to other countries.

His activities are carried out under the brand name; The Apple Revolution.

This young agriculturalist also holds in mind, the objective of spreading the techniques of cultivation to other Cameroonian youths such that the cultivation of this rare fruit goes viral in the country.

He currently sells seedlings and provides advice on how to go about the cultivation of this fruit to those in need.

 NAIROBI, Kenya According to a recent assessment by the U.N.'s office for international development, s ub-Saharan Africa is now the world's hotspot of violent Islamic extremism , and people are joining more frequently for economic reasons than theological ones. When compared to the figures in a previous research published in 2017, the UNDP report released on Tuesday stated that 92% of recruits to extremist groups are joining for better jobs and escalating poverty.
