12 boys trapped 4km deep into cave since June 23rd. Rescue mission currently unfolding.


Thailand navy and international divers carried out an operation to rescue 12 boys and their coach who got trapped by rising water in a cave in Tham Luang. The ages of the boys vary between 11 years and 16 years and their coach is 25.

Sources such as The Guardian say this boys have been in that cave since 23rd of June 2018.

After playing a football game in a neighborhood in Tham Luang, the teacher and students decided to go for an adventurous walk around,  the walk that led them into the cave of no return.

Since they were discovered,  they have been supplied with food and oxygen as the riding water trapped oxygen from entering into the cave.

The rescue team went operational today July 8th,  a team made of Thai divers and some international divers.  According to the commander in charge of the rescue mission,  this was the best moment to carry on with the extraction as the waters are suspected to rise even higher in the days ahead.

The divers had to go and give the boys diving suits and give them a minimum amount of training on how to use the suit,  after which each boy will be attached to a diver and the miles long swim will take off.

The team was made of 50 international divers and 40 Thai divers.
The neighborhood and families of boys awaited in anxiety to see the boys rescued given that for over 9 days no one knew the boys were still alive.

After the first four boys were successfully  taken out of the cave,   they were immidiately rushed to the hospital for medical attendance.

Since the start of the rescue operation,   one diver lost his life after running out of oxygen 1.5 meters into the cave.

The next stage of the rescue operation will follow same procedure in a couple of hours.
