For 18 yrs, cameroon's portable water supplies has been In the hands of the private sector, which for the greater part are foreign.
Yesterday May 30th marked an end to a
10 year contract that was signed, granting Camerounais Des Eaux(Morrocan corporation) the apt privilege of management and supply of portable water in the country.
These 10 years as a faction of citizens qualified, saw a boost in the supply of clean portable water. Nonetheless, a greater proportion expressed the fact that there was little or totally no improvement in the water sector, with many communities depending solely on bore hole water, commonly called "forage".
A hand over of control from CDE to CAMWATER is seen by many to be an increment as the government better masters the problems of the communities. It also shows and improvement in the country's strategy.
A swap of corporations also entails a need for laborers. The population expressed their desire to run for the new jobs CAMWATER will definitely be creating to feel in the loops both in the field and in offices. Business men are also longing to win contracts for supplies of basic materials and equipments to CAMWATER.
As CAMWATER reaffirms duty, the Cameroonian people wait to see the revolution in portable water supplies in the territory.
